Wanderer
You hold onto this world
With the arms of a mother
Holding her newborn baby
A love like no other
Clutching desperately
To everything you hold dear
As time passes
Year after year
Things change so fast
In the blink of an eye
Scared to stop and smell the roses
Before life passes you by
We’re all on this rock together
We don’t know what to do
Our existence is transient
We’re all just passing through
Like grains of sand
Spread along the shore
Life is a chance
You couldn’t ask for more
You are unique
In every way
One in a billion
Or so they say
You get to experience
What it means to be alive
Why settle for anything less
When you can reach and strive
Nobody knows
What they are capable of
Until they are forced to change
And push comes to shove
Life seems so simple
When we are faced with death
Grounded to the world
Rooted in our breath
Coming to greet us
Then fading away
Reminding us again
Nothing is here to stay
Making us consider
Our own mortality
Teaching us how to live
In this reality
Follow your heart
Learn and grow
For a day will come
When you will let it all go
